It is with great sadness we announce the passing of a beautiful lady, Grace Mona Hyatt , 88, on September 5, 2015.
Mona was born December 30, 1926. She enjoyed going to church, playing piano, knitting, gardening, reading, and fishing. She looked forward to watching her favourite TV shows Joel Osteen, The Young & The Restless, and Dog The Bounty Hunter.
Mona enjoyed spending time with her family. She always looked forward to visits and hugs from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved having tea and a cookie with them while they chatted about their lives.
Mona always enjoyed sitting in her rocking chair, watching the birds and deer in the backyard. She would often say “The deer are eating Harvey’s trees again… he’s going to be mad.” Mona was surrounded by beautiful plants and flowers, which she took great pride in caring for.
She looked forward to her daily visits from Ronda, Kim and Korri. She was very grateful for their helpfulness and keeping her updated on her favourite soap opera. When she was feeling well, she also looked forward to spending her Thursdays at the Pioneer Center where she could enjoy tea, a craft, and some company.
Mona was predeceased by her parents Hollister and Nellie Mills, her loving husband Marshall Hyatt, her infant son Leonard, sister Jessie Degagne, and brother Addison Mills.
She is survived by her daughter Marsha (Harvey) Walker of Atikokan, Ontario, son Hollister (Johann) of Calgary, and son Frank (Rhonda) Hyatt of Merritt, B.C. She is also survived by brother-in-law James (Helen) Daw from Emo, Ontario, seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by Ev Tribe, Mona’s lifelong friend, also from Atikokan.
Pastor David Baxter joined the family for interment at Box Alder Cemetery in Lavallee, Ontario.
Memorial donations may be made to the Riverside Foundation, Box 1887, Atikokan, ON P0T 1C0. All donations will go towards the Golden Day Adult Day Program, which Mona attended.
